There are so many great options when choosing what prom shoes to buy with different trends and aesthetics emerging each year. This list looks at all types of prom shoes and all the different ways you might want to style them. One of my favourite prom looks is trainers with maxi dresses as it is just such a super amazing chic but fun way to style your prom look, one which both looks cool and will have your feet in total comfort so you can enjoy your prom to the fullest. In short, you can wear any shoes to the prom, just make sure they go with your dress! If you go for a sneaker, make sure it compliments your dress in both colour and look. Heels are the classic go to for prom. When buying heels make sure you get a good fit that you will feel comfortable in. Of course flats are also a great alternative for prom. Flat sparkly prom shoes are a particular favourite look of mine which are perfect if you want that gorgeous preppy look.
How do you not walk “awkward” in heels?
Heels are are all about good posture so make sure you stand tall, shoulders back, keep your chin up and be sure to relax your knees so that you can get that insta-worthy prom photo you are after. For walking, just make sure to get a little practice and wear into your heels before the prom!
What shoes to wear with long prom dress?
You can wear any shoes with a long prom dress, it just depends on what look you are going for. Typically sneakers are a great look for a more young fresh almost y2k look. Heels are the classic which will give you that proper ‘princess ball’ look. Flats are perfect if you want to keep your look elegant and be in complete comfort for the dance. Most importantly, just make sure to find a pair of shoes that goes well with your dress.
What shoes to wear with [blank] colour dress?
There is no right answer for this question and it is really up to you to find the right pair of shoes to go with your dress. The colour doesn’t matter too much unless you are wanting to colour block however there are some colour clashes you might want to avoid. One example is if you are wearing a red prom dress I would definitely steer clear of green prom shoes. Green and red is typically a fashion no, however, it can work from time to time. Another example is if you are wearing a black prom dress, avoid wearing white high heels. The combo does not look good together and usually even looks tacky. Besides those two exceptions there are very few colour combos you can go wrong with. 💖
